Opioid Use Disorder Outreach Worker

The ICCON (Intensive Coordinated Care Opioid Navigator) program is a non-residential program for people struggling with opioid use disorder. The Outreach Worker will provide an intensive client centered approach to assist people with social support and guidance in the areas of Health/Wellness; Housing; Income/Financial Assistance; Employment; Legal Aid; Connections to Community

This part time position is 21 hours/week and is subject to funding

Duties Include:

  • Screen and interview clients for suitability for the program
  • Assist clients to develop healthy lifestyles, which do not include a reliance on substance use
  • Enhance coping skills, self-esteem, and mental wellness
  • Assisting clients with basic lifeskills including nutrition, employment/training opportunities
  • Provide relapse prevention strategies and promote awareness of other resources throughout the community
  • Liaising with landlords to ensure stable housing
  • Advocating for clients with other service providers and family members
  • Reducing the stigma attached to opioid use disorder
  • Maintain reports, records and statistics such as intake, progress and discharge
  • Connect with other organizations including Interior Health, MCFD, in-patient treatment centres and substance use counsellors

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in outreach work, psychology, social work, or human services
  • Training in Substance Use and Addictions
  • Demonstrated practical experience delivering skill-based training to adult learners in a variety of settings
  • Experience working with diverse cross section of clients
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Class 5 drivers licence and reliable vehicle is mandatory
  • Must pass a criminal record check and agency screening

Start date is December 13, 2021-November 30, 2022. $22.00/hour plus company benefits after probation.

Position is dependent on continued funding.
